Federal Work Study for Employers

This page contains information on Federal Work Study (FWS) for Cornell employers. Below you will find general FWS guidelines, the FWS job posting template, and instructions on how to check a student employee’s FWS eligibility in Workday.

Employer Eligibility Requirements

Use of Federal Work-Study (FWS) funding is limited to student jobs within Cornell colleges and units, as well as approved Community Work-Study Program partners. Most Cornell student jobs qualify for a student’s FWS funding if the position meets the required criteria. To qualify, a position must be posted in Workday, and the student recruiter must correctly answer the FWS routing questions.

The Workday Learning course HRWKD 3400: Managing Student Appointments in Workday is designed to assist Cornell employers with creating a job requisition.
