I-9 Form

Notes on the I-9 Form

Federal law requires all student employees to complete a Form I-9 to verify their identity and employment authorization. Information about the Form I-9, including a complete list of acceptable documents, is available on I-9 Central.

The student will be prompted to complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 after they're hired in Workday. After they complete Section 1, they will then elect a friend, roommate, or family member to serve as their Section 2 reviewer. The student will meet with the Section 2 reviewer to present original and unexpired documents that verify the student's identity and employment authorization. After Section 2 is complete, the I-9 will then be routed to the appropriate Cornell staff member for final approval and authorization. This must be done by the third day of work.
