Job Search Basics

All hourly open student employment jobs are posted in Workday on the Find Jobs - Student board.

Working on-campus?

Bring your original, unexpired identity and employment authorization document(s) with you to campus so that you can complete your Form I-9. Your hiring department is your primary point of contact for the I-9 process. However, because the start of the semester often brings a high volume of new hires, Cornell will offer Student I-9 Processing HUBs during the weeks of January 19 and January 26 (excluding Martin Luther King, Jr. Day) to help ensure timely compliance. Visit the I-9 HUBs webpage for locations, requirements, and details. Questions? Contact hrpolicy@cornell.edu.

Job Seeking Steps

While a Cornell student employment job may not directly align with your ultimate career goals, you should still take the job preparation and interview process seriously. It can mean landing a job that you really need, while also giving you a leg up post-graduation when careful job preparation and interviewing is essential.

Cornell’s Career Services Office offers numerous resources to get you prepared, including, but not limited to:

  • Developing a professional looking resume;
  • Writing cover letters that sell your skills; and
  • Knowing what to expect in a job interview.
